On the late night of September 16th, 2013 I was cleaning out some boxes and drawers of personal items I had stored away for several years. I found tons of lyrics and songs that I had not used, photos, keepsakes that people had given to me and pictures that my son had drawn for me while he was just a tiny little fella. The pictures reminded me what was important to him should be what is important to me. I could not sleep and began to write down the words that quickly became this song.

Some Of Us
Words/Music - Carroll/2013
I don’t know what to say - I’ve used every word that could be prayed (could be prayed)
I have no more strength - Carrying these bags have made me weak (so very weak)
Some of us have to learn the hard way - Some of us have to fall apart
Some of us have to choose the wrong ways
To end up in God’s arms - To ever know God’s heart
I’ve held on too long - The anger like a monster has grown strong (I know it’s wrong)
I’ve betrayed your love - Clinging to my past like an affair with my demons
Some of us ask a thousand times… why? - Some of us watch life from the sidelines
Some of us get it right the third time - Running for the prize to look into God’s eyes
Some of us have to learn the hard way - Some of us have to fall apart
Some of us have to choose the wrong ways
To end up in God’s arms - To ever know God’s heart
Running for the prize to look into God’s eyes
I have watched this young man grow into a successful musician over the years. We did some of his early material together and he is still cranking out some amazing songs! James Vincent Carroll
